Hundreds succumbed to death and millions lost their homes in one of the worst natural disasters Kerala has ever witnessed and the miseries don’t end here. The wide-spreading diseases and the contamination of drinking water, are few of the many after-effects of flood.
Ensuring the safety of drinking water following a flood, is of utmost importance, whether it is from a well or a public water system. After weeks of nightmare, diseases form contaminated water is something nobody would even want to think of.
A water purification system that works on reverse osmosis technology, proves to be a viable solution to purify contaminated water. In Cochin, a truck took the form of a mobile water treatment plant, that was driven to various parts of the city. In RO technology, water pumped from the source is passed through the plant which then gets converted into drinking water. 500 litres per hour is the capacity of the plant.
