The primary focus in slaughter house waste water is to reduce the BOD/COD, the blood stream and Ammonia levels, within the discharge to main sewer both economically and to provide a sustainable long term solution that reduces organic waste to landfill and minimalizes airborne odours. Emvees also encompasses an additional solution for the reuse of the discharge water after significant cleaning as an option.
The primary process to reduce the organic load will require the following mode of action.
- Removal of Ammonia utilising Bacteriological Cultures that digest the ammonia.
- Oxidation of the organics within the Liquor utilising a Venturi Ozone generation system, this with coagulate the blood and organic particulates.
- The Liquor will then enter a micro DAF unit which will be calibrated to remove the coagulation and deposit this into a feed system for the Bio-Thermic Digester.
Solids process: The Coagulation along with the offell (body parts) will be deposited in a hopper and then shredded and fed into a Bio Thermic Digester (BTD) unit, which will consume everything except large bones and horns, leaving a residue of around 05% which will be collected in a collection cart and used as soil conditioner.
Liquid process: The Liquid from the macro DAF unit will continue into an aerated Bio-reactor system where bio stimulant will be added at 150ml per day, the Bio Reactor will oxygenate the liquid and provide the optimum conditions for the species of bacteria so that within 24 hours they will have reduced the current COD/ BOD levels by around 80%. The Liquid will then be returned to the treated water tanks before discharge to municipal sewer or downstream treatment into UF followed by RO.
Odour control in slaughter: Emvees specializes the installation of two/three timed Airstream units that would neutralise the ambient Ammonia Odour that is migrating from the Slaughter area. This would be at minimal cost and would provide a better working environment for staff and visitors to the site.
